On Friday, March 25, 2022 North Central Academy Juniors and Seniors attended the Broadband Construction Program Recruiting Event hosted by Terra State Community College in Fremont, Ohio.  Though this invaluable opportunity, students were able to explore new programs available and meet with employers from the field.  Featured programs included: Utility Construction Installer Certificate (30.5 hours) and Construction Technology Certificate (16.5 hours)*   (construction and maintenance of fiber optic networks; basic construction principles and techniques, safety, site supervision, construction personnel supervision, plan and specification interpretation, supply logistics and procurement, applicable building codes and permits and report preparation).

Junior, Jacklyn Faulkner and Senior, Nadia Leeth took part in additional program exploration at Terra including Theatre and Health Care. We asked them what surprised them most about participating in the program here's what they had to say: "We were both surprised by all of the opportunities that Terra has for us, and that funding is available to help with education". Among their favorite parts of the day were "getting to meet the people from different industries and seeing our classmates attempt picking up a basketball with a backhoe".

Career Coordinator Consultant, Becky Bernard said the days highlights included, the student engagement with Terra representatives, instructors, and employers and exploring the many options in the career pathway as well as the hands-on virtual reality scenarios that mirror real-world experiences.

The days events and program exploration led to several North Central Academy students applying to attend Terra State Community College and the GLCAP.
